Five judgment challenges: interview questions, process ordering, pain-point classification, the root-cause challenge, and the evidence-gap challenge.

Info

All scenarios are synthetic teaching material; names, units, and figures are illustrative.

Warning

Practice only with the course-provided synthetic scenarios. Never bring unauthorized confidential, personal, or sensitive information into a practice response.

Practice challenges

P1: Good vs. Leading Interview Question

You are given eight interview questions. Judge which are neutral and which are leading, then rewrite the leading ones as neutral questions.

Steps

  1. Judge each: neutral or leading?
  2. Write one reason for each.
  3. Rewrite the leading questions as neutral, event-focused questions.

Deliverables

  • Judgment for all eight
  • The rewritten questions

P2: Process Ordering

You are given a shuffled list of process steps. Put them in the correct current-state order, and label the trigger, input, and output.

Steps

  1. Read all the step cards.
  2. Arrange them in the correct order.
  3. Label the overall trigger, input, and output.

Deliverables

  • The ordered step list
  • The trigger/input/output labels

P3: Pain Point Classification

You are given ten complaint statements from an interview. Classify each into one of seven types: waiting, rework, error, search, duplicate entry, handoff, or judgment load.

Steps

  1. Classify each statement's pain-point type.
  2. Point to the keyword or clue behind each judgment.
  3. Group same-type pain points and explain why they can be handled together.

Deliverables

  • Classification for all ten
  • The reasoning behind each
  • The same-type grouping

P4: Root Cause Challenge

You are given a symptom. Use a why-chain to probe three layers deep, marking each layer as a hypothesis and stating what evidence would confirm it.

Steps

  1. Write down the symptom.
  2. Ask "why" three times, recording each layer's answer.
  3. Mark each layer as a hypothesis and state what evidence would confirm it.

Deliverables

  • The symptom description
  • The three-layer why-chain
  • The evidence needed to confirm each layer

P5: Evidence Gap Challenge

You are given five interview summaries. Judge whether each claim has checkable evidence, and classify it as observed (measured or logged) or estimated (the interviewee's guess).

Steps

  1. Classify each as observed or estimated.
  2. Point to the reasoning behind each classification.
  3. Identify the claim with the biggest evidence gap and state how to close it next.

Deliverables

  • Classification for all five
  • The reasoning behind each
  • The biggest gap and its next step
