Before you start

Only admins can export, and exports of sensitive data are logged.

Warning

Exported files contain learner submissions; treat them as sensitive.

Steps

  1. Open the Export Center
Choose Data Exports in the Admin app sidebar
  2. Choose a course and data type
Pick the course first, then a data type that course offers (for example quiz results, Use Cases, Exit Tickets, Canvases or decision records), and select Export to get the matching download. Only courses that offer a CSV export are listed, and the export covers that data type in full; you cannot export a single session
  3. Download
Files are UTF-8 CSV and open in Excel or Google Sheets
  4. Store safely
Keep files in managed locations, share only with people who need them, and delete local copies when done

Expected result

You have a CSV identified by learner code. To prevent spreadsheet formula injection, fields starting with =, +, -, or @ are automatically prefixed with a single quote.

Common problems

  1. Chinese text looks garbled
Files include a UTF-8 byte-order mark and usually open directly; otherwise use your spreadsheet’s import feature and choose UTF-8.
  2. Some cells start with a single quote
That is the formula-injection protection; the data itself is unchanged.
